Supplier Registration Process
What does this mean for you and how does it work?
Lower-value contracts
When you successfully register, your details are added to our database of potential suppliers for lower-value contracts. This single database is our electronic ‘yellow pages’ for potential suppliers. The benefit to you, as a supplier, is that each of the 8 public sector organisations can now access your details, without you needing to register with each public body separately, 8 times.
The 8 public sector organisations can access the database to search for suitable suppliers. Ordinarily, for lower value contracts, we will contact potential suppliers directly, to request further information about products or services, and to invite quotations
Note: The Buy4Sheffield Supplier Registration Process does not guarantee that you will receive any invitations to quote for work or any guaranteed business through being registered.
Higher-value Contracts
The process for awarding high-value contracts is different to that of low-value contracts. High-value contracts (c.£20k+ depending on the individual organisation) will usually undergo a Tender Process. The Tender will be publicly advertised, and ordinarily, the onus is on suppliers to express their interest in individual tenders and to submit a tender bid in accordance with the instructions and a timeframe that will be specific to each individual tender.
This website has links to current tender opportunities for each of the 8 Sheffield public sector organisations. Each of the public sector organisations has different rules and procedures with regards to tendering, and our How to do Business section on this website tells you where you can find further information regarding the details and differences of tendered and non-tendered contracts.
